The gorgeous beads pictured above are none other than Basha Beads. In my 15+ years of beading they truly are the most unique and beautiful beads that I've ever seen. Until recent months they've been hard to come by. In recent months my friend Andrew Thornton of Green Girl Studios has become an outlet for purchasing Basha Beads. Andrew carries quite a variety of Basha's in his Big Cartel shop. Here's a snippet from Andrew on Barbara's process in creating these beads:
"Going by her family name, Barbara "Basha" creates lampwork glass beads of astounding quality, craftsmanship, and character. She is a Northwestern-based glass artisan, who specializes in pieces inspired by ancient Greco-Roman glass and gemstones. It took over two years to develop this unique technique that captures and reflects light, while maintaining an organic matte finish. The matte finish gives the beads an antique and exotic look. Like snowflakes, each handmade bead is one of a kind and no two beads are exactly alike (even ones hailing from the same series). Each bead is a little piece of abstract art!"
Head over to Andrew's Big Cartel shop and scoop yourself up one of these treasures. They'll make a wonderful and in some way archival addition to your bead stash. You can't have just one either. Once you see these in person you'll want more! Trust me!
