Okay, here's the deal. I painted this early last week. The background started out as a collage of some very cool papers and then I painted my bird. Well, for whatever reason, it just wasn't clicking for me so I painted over the background and this is what I ended up with. Not sure about it and would love some HONEST feedback from anyone willing to comment. Is something missing in it or is it just me being too critical of my work? A painter I am not, but I enjoy it none the less. I love bird images in art, so that's where this gal came from.Let me know what you think...Thanks.

Love it! It is so bright and happy. The only thing that distracts my eye, is the horizon so close to center. Especially like the striped socks on the bird. :)
I think he is adorable---he really catches your eye. Love the black contrasted on the blue and with the cute flowers. You should paint a series of these.
i think this is super-cute cristi! i have zero painting experience, so i'm not sure i could offer any worthwhile suggestions. sometimes when i don't like something, i just put it away for a week and don't think about it anymore. then when i get it back out, i either like it, or i can see what i want to change. hope that helps.....

I like him the way he is, Cristi. After thinking about him for a while...I thought it would be fun to have the bird looking at a colorful caterpillar on top of the flower..like he's getting ready to take a bite. Just a thought :>)
he's a cutie, cristi. i love the bright colors (shocker coming from me, huh ;-) i'd be interested to see what your collaged background looked like. that's the only thing i would have added....just little somethings peeking out from the background.

Sometimes, well often times, when I get stuck I search for a quote to kind of clarify a direction that my art wants to go. You're so good with words & images, Cristi. I'm sure that breakthrough is right around the corner for this cute birdie painting.

I really like it. I like the folk art feeling and the use of newsprint or old bookprint. Reusing is great and I love thinks that are recycled
